Summary of Accomplishments:

¦ Established and chaired the Aerospace Engineering Department 1993-present, increased number of faculty members from 7 to 11 in 1997. Average yearly income of Research Funding is $1.1 mil and average yearly Purchase Release Time is $150,000 over the past three years. Manage a budget of more than $3.0 mil per year. The Departmental faculty produces an average of 65 Journal and Conference Proceedings publications per year. Four of the Department Professors are Eminent Scholars; out of 22 University Eminent Scholars. The Department is one of three Departments in the University which is recognized as national prominent department. Department has successfully passed external Reviewers Evaluation of Graduate Program (November 6 and 7, 1996). Department's Self Study Report is available. The Department offers Ph.D., M.S. and M.E. degrees in Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics. It also manages the Aerospace Option for seniors in the Mechanical Engineering Department. The Department also offers the M.E. degree in Experimental Methods, a unique national program. The Department provides technical expertise for operating the 30'x60' Langley Full Scale Tunnel which is a college leased tunnel.
