Spring 2008 ODU is awarded a contract by the Federal Transit Administration to undertake a new research effort on the Maglev system, partnerned with MagneMotion Inc, Acton, MA

June 2008 After many years of distinguished service, Drs. Jim Cross and Chuh Mei retire and are both appointed Emeritus faculty.

Summer 2008 Dr. Shizhi Qian joins us from the University of Nevada Las Vegas as an Assistant Professor.  Dr. Qian will work in the area of microfluidics.

October 2008 Dr. Keejoo Lee joins us from the University of Maryland as an Assistant Professor.  Dr. Lee will work in the area of composite materials and structures.

Spring 2009 The ODU AIAA Student Chapter will host the Region 1-MA Student Paper Competition.
