Engineers Week Open House
Engineers Week Open House - Friday, February 17, 2006
National Engineers Week Open House Competition - Saturday, February 18, 2006.
Old Dominion University will celebrate National Engineers Week and we are very excited about our annual Engineering Open House on February 17 and 18, 2006.
On Friday, February 17, our engineering and technology departments will provide displays of a wide variety of technologies intended for high school students. Come and experience guided tours through our teaching and research laboratories where we will conduct exercises and experiments. There will be three starting times: 9:00am, 9:30am, and 10:00am. If you are bringing a group of students, please pre-register your group. To do so, download the Open House Registration Form here. This will ensure that when you arrive we will have a sufficient number of tour guides available.
On Saturday, February 18, students may chose to participate in our Design Contests and Engineering Activities which are open to both Middle and High School Students. In addition, Ken Frantz, founder of Bridges to Prosperity, will be the invited luncheon speaker. Events are scheduled so that a student may choose to participate in any and all. Please indicate on the registration form which are preferred. The design contests will test student's inventiveness, skills, and creativity. Monetary awards will be given to all winners. The engineering activities, organized by the College's Women in Engineering Initiative, do not require any preparation prior to the date, and have been designed to be fun and informative.
