How Water is Cleaned - Presented by SWE
Water in lakes, rivers and swamps often contains impurities that make it look and smell bad. The water may also contain bacteria and other impurities that can cause disease. Consequently, water from surface sources must be "cleaned" before it can be consumed by people. Water treatment plants typically clean water by taking it through the following process: aeration, coagulation, sedimentation, filtration and disinfections. This experiment will demonstrate the properties for the first four processes. We will aerate water, coagulate (chemically "stick" dirt and suspended particles together), show sedimentation and filter the particles out of the water.
Engineering At Mary Kay Cosmetics
Come see how engineers play a role in the beauty industry. Many of the 42 packaging lines and several pieces of processing machinery were engineered and built by the Mary Kay engineers, mechanics and machinists. Most packaging lines are capable of running many different products, with some lines capable of up to eight products. During a typical 10-hour shift, production of up to 55,000 units can be filled on a single line.
All Mary Kay skin care and cosmetic products are scientifically formulated and packaged using the latest technology. Product quality and consumer safety are company priorities, so the Company has invested heavily in scientific research, development and engineering.
Team Based Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Activity - Presented by Nauticus
Using a real-world professional ROV, the presenter will go over the engineering and physics involved with designing a ROV. Each team will be given a specific mission based on real-world parameters, and then be given time to build a vehicle out of PVC.
