While working on my bachelor's and master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering at Old Dominion University, I was amazed by the enthusiasm of my professors, especially Dr. Sebastian Bawab, Dr. Jen Huang, and Dr. Gene Hou. It was their dedication both to the discipline of engineering and to their students that inspired me to pursue a master's degree. While conducting my research, I got to know these gentlemen and other faculty members as more than just teachers of required courses: I realized that these are professionals who are concerned about expanding the capabilities of their Department and of the College to better prepare students for careers in engineering.
For me, it is both an honor and a privilege to make contributions of time, expertise, and money to Old Dominion. Serving on College committees, maintaining a close relationship with the College's faculty and staff, and designating my pledge to the Frank Batten College of Engineering and Technology all give me an opportunity to demonstrate my respect for my professors and my appreciation for the engineering education I received from them at Old Dominion. These donations show that I want to help the College's faculty to continue teaching with state-of-the-art equipment and to continue producing engineers who are prepared to respond to the ever-changing needs of industry. I encourage all other Frank Batten College of Engineering and Technology alumni to also make this commitment!
