Resources for Industry Partners
A Message from the Dean
Changing Lives. Our College has embraced the University motto that signifies the profound impact our academic offerings, research opportunities, and service continue to have on members of our academic community, Virginia's industries, and the engineering profession.
According to the federal government, the United States will need 15 million engineers and technology workers by the year 2020. Our forward thinking is helping meet the societal, economic, environmental, and ethical engineering challenges of the 21st century. Through synergy, creative design processes, and sound engineering judgment, we have set the stage to reach the shared vision of our faculty and students, as well as succeeding in collaborative efforts with our industry partners.
Old Dominion University leads larger research institutions because of the opening of Innovation Research Park @ ODU. One of the most carefully planned and researched projects ever undertaken in Virginia, our goal is to create a unique innovation zone, one that truly integrates world-renowned scientists and research capabilities with technology-intensive private sector companies. One of the few research parks in the country located on the campus of its research institution, IRP offers the only combination Class A office and wet/dry lab space available in Hampton Roads that sits within all three federal and state incentive zones, providing significant benefits to tenants. These incentives are in the form of tax credits, grants, and other assistance.
We are proud of our many enhancements and achievements. From contributions made by friends and alumni to the academic and research accomplishments of our stellar faculty, the Batten College continues to receive national recognition.
I look forward to collaborating with our industry partners on the exciting achievements that lie ahead. For the latest news, I invite you to browse our Web site for event listings and further details about the College and to subscribe to e-Interaction, the College's electronic newsletter.
