Scholarships for Study in the Field of Marine Engineering & Marine Engineering Technology
For Undergraduate and Graduate Students
ODU's focus in Marine Engineering is on shipbuilding and repair operations for small and fast vessels in shallow water; its well established research record in ship maintenance. The new marine engineer must cross multi-disciplinary boundaries.
Fields of Study
Students majoring in the following fields qualify if intended course of study and/or research pertain to Marine Engineering or Marine Engineering Technology:
- Aerospace Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Engineering Technology
- Civil and Environmental Engineering
- Engineering Management and Systems Engineering
- Modeling and Simulation
- Electrical and Computer Engineering
Scholarship and Assistantship Opportunities
Provided by NSF's S-STEM Grant and matching funds from Old Dominion University, the Frank Batten College of Engineering has $1 million available to award to undergraduate and graduate degree-seeking students studying in the area of Marine Engineering & Marine Engineering Technology.
Recipient Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship/Permanent Resident Status
- Demonstrated Financial Need (As determined by filing the FAFSA)
- Minimum grade point average:
- Undergraduate (Jr. or Sr. status) Applicants
- Graduate Applicants 3.25 for Master 's & 3.5 for Ph.D students
- Desire to work in the Marine Engineering & Marine Engineering Technology field

Recipients of a Marine Engineering Scholarship/Assistantship Award will receive several benefits:
- Undergraduate scholarship up to $7,000/year
- MS/Ph.D scholarships and assistantships up to $37,000 per year

Application Steps
1. Apply for Financial Aid by February 15, 2008
