Dr. Gnana Bharathy, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Engineering Management and Systems Engineering. He received his Ph.D. and an M.S. in Systems Engineering (with a focus in Social Systems Modeling & Integration) from the University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Engineering (Risk Analysis and Environmental Eng focus) from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand and a Bachelor of Technology from the National Institute of Technology (formerly Regional Engineering College), Trichy, India. Gnana Bharathy's research experience has been in the areas of methodology or process development as well as in various domains and types of modeling and simulation with particular emphasis on integration of social system models and human behavior modeling. In addition, Gnana has also worked in the areas of decisions, risk and environmental sciences. Immediately before joining Old Dominion University, Gnana has been with the University of Pennsylvania, where he, in the capacities of project manager, modeler and analyst, has been leading a research team of research associates to build large scale social systems models to study conflict in four countries. This project followed his award winning dissertation work at Penn (with Dr Barry Silverman), where Gnana had developed a systems methodology for integrating social system frameworks and modeling human behavior through knowledge engineering based process, and has employed the same to create several models of leaders and followers in situations involving conflict-cooperation. Gnana Bharathy has several years of consulting experience in environmental sciences/ engineering, modeling and simulation, risk management and decision sciences. His risk assessment experience spans areas such as technology management, energy, environment, safety, strategy and business continuity. He has also worked on developing and applying models, analytical tools and techniques in decision sciences and strategic management areas including strategic risk management and scenario planning. | |
