We live in exciting times, where ideas are rapidly converted into working physical objects and delivered to marketplaces, where people work in global networks of organizations across vast geographic boundaries, and where local issues are transcended by global needs concerning sustainable growth and development.  Today's world is full of opportunities for well educated people who are prepared for continuous professional and personal growth throughout their careers.

The mission of the Department of Engineering Technology is to educate technically savvy and socially responsible applied engineers ready to embrace the rapidly changing world. Engineering Technology students acquire sound theoretical foundations grounded in engineering, technology, science and math, which are tested and verified in hands-on intensive state-of-the-practice laboratories. Engineering Technology alumni are successful professionals, productive contributors to organizations, and responsible citizens of the world ready to embrace challenges of the ever changing workplace through the effective application of applied engineering, teamwork, and leadership founded in essential people skills.

The Department of Engineering Technology faculty take pride in their commitment to excellence in teaching, closely coupled with excellence in applied research and strong engagement with industry and community. Our faculty are engineering professionals who are current in their fields and possess a wealth of business and industrial experience. This experience is shared in the classroom where our primary goal is the preparation of students for career success.

The Department of Engineering Technology offers ABET accredited programs in Civil Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, and Mechanical Engineering Technology. In addition the Department offers programs in General Engineering Technology and Motorsports Engineering Technology. Our faculty conduct applied research in renewable energy, marine technology, advanced manufacturing, mechatronics, geospatial technology and many other interdisciplinary areas. In addition, the faculty are engaged in numerous regional and national professional organizations where they provide leadership in creating the future of engineering technology.
