Transportation Research Cluster (TRC)
The Transportation Research Cluster provides a forum for faculty involved in all aspects of transportation to get together and discuss potential collaborative projects. The cluster is focusing on examining interactions between major areas of transportation (air, land, and water) and exploring research opportunities dealing with intermodal issues. The cluster involves faculty that are doing research in the air and maritime modes that have potential interactions with the surface transportation network. Representatives from a number of departments are involved with the cluster, including Civil and Environmental Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Psychology, Virginia Modeling and Simulation Research Center, and the Maritime Institute. Faculty meet regularly to discuss potential collaborations.
Transportation Research Cluster Initiatives
Old Dominion University is actively developing a number of interdisciplinary initiatives in transportation. The research program will take advantage of both Hampton Roads' prime location at the confluence of shipping, port, air, and highway systems and its faculty knowledge base across a wide range of disciplines that have been applied and developed in previous transportation related research.
